Since its founding in September 2006, High Road Strategies has undertaken projects for a wide range of clients. Energy Pricing and Manufacturing Competitiveness in Malaysia The Millennium Institute Economic Policy Unit of Malaysia’s Prime Minister’s Department Prepared report and presentation on Energy Pricing and Manufacturing Competitiveness in Malaysia, for a Comprehensive National Planning Workshop in support of a project of The Millennium Institute and Economic Planning Unit of Malaysia’s Department of the Prime Minister. Manufacturing Skills Standards—Green Production Module Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) International Union of Electrical Workers–Communication Workers of America (IUE-CWA) Working for America Institute, AFL-CIO (WAI) Provided consultation, research and technical assistance in the research, design and development (including assessment, validation, and curriculum) of a Green Production Module (GPM) for the national MSSC-Certified Production Technician (CPT) standards, training, assessment, and certification system. The GPM’s purpose is to enhance the green-related skills of the production workforce in all manufacturing sectors in order to help manufacturers improve their environmental performance. (2010-2011)
Assuring Ohio’s Competitiveness in a Carbon-Constrained World Ohio University and The Ohio State University Provided a comprehensive assessment of the opportunities and risks of greenhouse gas policies to Ohio industries, with a special focus on the impact on Ohio’s energy-intensive industries. Also providing consultation, data collection and other assistance in the development of energy-intensive industry modeling modules for the project’s state-wide energy-economic policy modeling tool. The Competitiveness Impacts Of The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 Environmental Defense Fund National Commission on Energy Policy (Bipartisan Policy Center) AFL-CIO Working for America Institute Back-to-back studies on the economic impacts of H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES) on energy-intensive trade-exposed industries (EITE), jointly with the Millennium Institute. Updating the work of the earlier project on Climate Policy and Energy-Intensive Manufacturing, the first study evaluated the emissions allowance output-rebate in ACES; the second examined border adjustment mechanism measures in ACES, as well as alternative policy scenarios.(2009-2010)
Climate Policy And Energy- Intensive Manufacturing: Impacts And Options National Commission on Energy Policy (Bipartisan Policy Center) A two-year policy study, culminating in a major report (June 2009), conducted in collaboration with the Millennium Institute, Arlington, VA, assessing the impacts of a moderate-priced U.S. greenhouse gas emissions trading system on several important energy-intensive manufacturing industries, including iron and steel, aluminum, paper and paperboard, and chemicals manufacturing. Manufacturing And The Erosion Of The U.S. Defense Industrial Base AFL-CIO Industrial Union Council U.S. Business-Industry Council An examination, culminating in a major report on how the decline in American manufacturing contributes to the erosion of the U.S. defense industrial base. (2008-2010)
The Potential Of Information Technology To Enable Economy-Wide Energy Efficient Gains American Council for an Energy Efficient-Economy (ACEEE) A report produced as part of a joint study of ACEEE and AeA Europe (August 2007), on how advanced electronics and information technologies can help the European Union achieve its goal of reducing energy consumption 20 percent by 2020. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Media Consolidation Comments Department for Professional Employees (DPE), AFL-CIO On behalf of the DPE, AFL-CIO and several affiliated unions in news and entertainment, prepared and filed comments and reply comments in the FCC rulemaking proceedings on newspaper-broadcasting cross-ownership. (2006-2007)
